The Garden Grove of Books- Reading Program

The Garden Grove of Books is HRHA’s first reading program. Through this program, we will empower the youth of Harrisonburg with better access and support to build basic literacy skills, expand their vocabulary, and strengthen their writing skills. The age group that will be served through this program is 3-17 year-olds. As they build their literacy skills throughout the program, they are also eligible to win prizes based on several different categories.

Prizes for the Reading Program

The reader will be able to pick a prize of their choosing up to a certain cash value from a local retailer AND will receive waterpark passes from Massanutten Resort!

$100 value prize for the participant who reads the most (in terms of pages)

$75 value prize for the best writing prompt response

$50 value prize for “Active Reading Bee”, all readers that submit their reading log for July and August will be placed into a raffle for this prize!
